Rita El Khayat message

Ghita El Khayat

It is impossible to convey how much cinema today is an inescapable element of intellectual and artistic life in the world. The FIFOG prides itself on producing this 13th edition, its contribution towards uniting people, to promote living together, all the while accelerating the dynamics of social change.

It is a meeting that focuses on youth, women’s films, the presence of women in the arts, particularly in film, where their presence is increasingly felt. We notice an expantiong from the traditional role of actress or script work to occupy all levels of filmmaking. In fact, women have become directors, writers, producers and talent editors. While influencing the entire film medium and industry, young people and women offer interesting perspectives on turbulent news and bring new artistic visions to the screen.

Indeed, the woman, in cinema, impels a great deal of hope and the possibility for change: the East-West relationship will transform considerably, in the most positive sense, when women will express themselves in a humanist parity between East and West. Much will be achieved, through their sensitivity and particular feminine aptitudes, toward the effective and intelligent propinquity of these two parts of the world …

To injustice and harassment, Eastern women oppose artistic anger within filmic creations. The 13th FIFOG, which I have the happiness to preside over, is thrilled to help support and celebrate this cause. A celebration that gives defensive accents and homage to this resistance that provides hope.

A very good Festival and very long life to the FIFOG!
